I practiced a lot of speech therapy today, video chatting with my good friend, Jim Anderson and it really lifted my spirits.
The journey continues and it has been a challenging but good
day.

I admit that I am a bit embarrassed that I specifically

Greetings Deep Digging Friends,
For those of you who don't known... this just in, hot off the two week old presses… A stroke just
struck in June!
That’s right, I suffered a stroke due to a torn carotid artery
a mere two weeks ago.
It kind of feels a little like Tig Notaro when she suddenly announced
that she had cancer from the stage during a comedy show. “Hello, I have cancer. I have
cancer. I have cancer."
And just as Tig spoke aloud and proud, taking authority over her
cancer, I am taking charge of the transparency that I choose to share my stroke
experience and healing on social media. I will plan to share the thoughts,
struggles and healing of my experience with my trademark optimistic outlook and
humor.
Right now, every sentence I attempt to type turns into a challenging
obstacle course full of missing word mines that I have to successfully navigate
while crawling around blindly in my brain and hoping that I’m somehow able to
present some form of cogent thought. (It took me 5 minutes alone just to remember
how to spell “cogent”).
I know that this will probably seem like a silly series of short
posts but I have to keep pushing myself forward both mentally and creatively.
I will keep sharing regularly to keep everyone posted on my
progress and hopefully all will see me inching slowly forward.
