Oh no, Love, You're NOT Alone

Well hello my Fellow Deep Digging Babies!!!

It's been a while this I know but sometimes an absence helps one grow.  (a little poem for you.  Go back and read it as a poem 😉)

I feel like I have a lot to share and hopefully I will find the time to follow through and continue to post regularly.  Thank you to all who have stuck around and patiently waited see what comes next for "Digging Deeper."

Sometimes I find myself contemplating what this page is all about.  I often view it as a place for me to open up and expose myself as a means of catharsis.  But when I reflect back and really think about the impetus that drives me, it all comes down to community and the desire for healing through shared experience.  We are relational beings and one of the biggest obstacles to the healing process is a feeling of isolation that grows from a lack of relation.  Feeling like our issue is ours alone, to carry alone, and that no one else has ever experienced or felt quite the same way.  We have the false perception that our issue is so much worse than that of anyone else.   The main enemy of the human spirit is the feeling of aloneness and it strikes nearly every one of us at some point during our journey through this life.

In an age of support groups and self-help guide books, we often neglect the healthiness that everyday openness brings.  And I understand this.  It's risky to open one's self up and share the deepest parts.  Risking judgment.  Risking the vulnerability hangover that comes with baring the soul.  Risking finding out that the worst fear is a reality and that the enemy has come for us and we stand alone.
But you are NOT alone Fellow Terra Babies!  While the religious fundamentalists of the 1970's were shouting about punishment in fiery lakes and demanding repentance for the atrocities against the god they fashioned in their own image, Mr Bowie was speaking to the real issue that has always plagued people.  Finding people where they were with a message of hope, he sang:

"Oh no, love, you're not alone
You're watching yourself, but you're too unfair
You got your head all tangled up, but if I could only make you care
Oh no, love, you're not alone
No matter what or who you've been
No matter when or where you've seen
All the knives seem to lacerate your brain
I've had my share, I'll help you with the pain
You're not alone"

David Bowie Rock 'N' Roll Suicide Live 1973

Yes, we are quite unfair watching and judging ourselves.  But the truth is that we've all had our share of struggles so let's help each other with the pain by opening up and being vulnerable.  And knowing that we are not alone and that others have experienced and made it through the struggles and deep hurts that we feel will give us hope and encouragement.

So let's walk alongside each other, loving each other without judgment or condition.

And there's just one more thing I want you to do Fellow Babies.  Just one more thing to remember.  One more thing that Mr. Bowie needs us to hear so badly that he repeats it over and over at the culmination of his anthem of consolation.

"GIMME YOUR HANDS...

                                                    'CAUSE YOU'RE WONDERFUL!"
